SHAH ALAM: PAS Youth is asking for its members 40 per cent of the leadership line-up and candidates for the coming general election.

Its chief, Nasruddin Hassan, said the leadership allocation should encompass all levels of the party -- branch, division and state.

The maximum age for membership in the wing is 40.

"We want young people to be given ample opportunities for leadership in the party and to contest in the coming general election," Nasruddin told reporters after the opening of the PAS Youth 52nd annual general assembly by party deputy-president Nasharuddin Mat Isa last night.

At the assembly today, the 650 delegates will elect the wing's permanent chairman, deputy-chief, vice-chief, committee members and auditors.

Nasruddin was returned unopposed as the Youth chief for his second term, 2011-2013. -- BERNAMA

No plan to acquire Bernama TV: Media Prima

KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd said today that it has not entered into any discussion nor does it have any plan to acquire or operate Bernama TV.

The free-to-air TV operator said this in a filing to Bursa Malaysia in clarifying news reports from various media sources with regard to Bernama TV.

Its Shared Services and TV Network Chief Operating Officer, Datuk Kamal Khalid was yesterday reported as saying that, Media Prima Bhd would be more than happy to operate more TV stations as part of its expansion plans.

As to whether it was interested in operating Bernama TV (BTV), he said that there were no such plans and neither has the company been contacted by the government. -- BERNAMA
