KUALA LUMPUR: One or more sexual predators on the loose in a school compound in Kepong here had allegedly molested more than 10 pupils over the last two weeks.

The latest incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when three prefects claimed they saw a man molesting three pupils.

They reported this to the school's headmaster.

The headmaster approached the man and took him to the office.

The headmaster then asked the pupils who had complained if they could identify the culprit and three of them had allegedly pointed him out.

The man, who is the parent of a student from a nearby school, was however, allowed to leave.

The three pupils, aged 10 to 12, then reported the matter to the police. It is learnt that the man was subsequently questioned by police, but he was not arrested.

Earlier, several pupils told a teacher that a man had "touched" them inappropriately. They said the man was carrying a school bag.

That man has yet to be identified.

City Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah confirmed the police report and said investigations were ongoing.

It is unclear if police were looking for a second suspect.

The school's headmaster, identified only as Cheng, said the incidents happened in a roofed area in the school compound.

"The area is where Year 4 to Year 6 pupils gather before school starts. It is near the entrance to the school."

Following the incident, the school's board of directors and Parent-Teacher Association decided to stop parents from entering the school compound.

"We decided that we have to take more safety measures to protect the pupils," Cheng said.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said he had heard about the incident but his ministry had yet to receive a report.

The ministry could only act when it received a report, he added.

PEKAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday announced that some 250 Felda D'Mart provision stores nationwide will be selling 1Malaysia products at reasonable prices.

He said Felda settlers would be able to purchase products, such as mineral water, condensed milk, diapers and chilli sauce at low prices.

"This will help lessen the people's burden."

Najib also promised that the quality of goods sold at the D'Mart provision stores would not be compromised despite their lower prices.

"It is value for money. For example, a tin of Ayam brand sardines is sold for RM3 at normal shops but the D'Mart 1Malaysia store will sell it for RM1.30. While a packet of diapers at normal shops costs RM30.20, it will retail at RM18.50.

"There is a lot of difference in the prices. This is the government's efforts to help families living in Felda settlements to reduce their household expenditure," he said after the nationwide launch of the D'Mart 1Malaysia store at Felda Chini Timur 2 here.

Najib said going by the increase in prices of goods throughout the world, this new concept would bring relief to the people.

He said the 1Malaysia concept stores launched in Kelana Jaya, Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras and Lembah Pantai in the Klang Valley had receive tremendous support from Malaysians and people were willing to travel from afar to the stores to purchase goods at reasonable prices.

"The 1Malaysia stores enable people to reduce their expenditure by between 30 and 40 per cent.

"The opening of the 1Malaysia stores is proof that the Barisan Nasional government is concerned about the people's welfare."

He said the strong support shown for the 1Malaysia concept stores had prompted the government to apply the same method to the D'Mart provision stores at Felda settlements throughout the country.

Present were Malaysian ambassador to the United States Datuk Seri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis and Mydin managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin.

Later, before breaking fast with settlers at the Felda Chini Timur 2 mosque, Najib announced an allocation of RM6.884 million to build and upgrade various facilities in the area.

He later performed his terawih prayers at the Batu Lapan mosque in Lepar near here.
