Banting murders: Defence's contempt application dismissed Posted: 11 Sep 2011 11:01 PM PDT 2011/09/12 SHAH ALAM: The Shah Alam High Court today dismissed an application by the defence team in the Banting murder trial to cite the deputy public prosecutors for contempt for charging witness U. Suresh for perjury. Judge Datuk Akhtar Tahir said the prosecutors has the right to initiate a prosecution. He, however, ordered that Suresh's trial at the Sessions court be stayed until the completion of the Banting murder trial.

Security guard found dead in drain Posted: 11 Sep 2011 10:58 PM PDT KUALA LUMPUR: A security guard believed to murdered, was found in a monsoon drain outside a Chinese restaurant in Bandar Puchong Jaya here today. Serdang Police Chief Supt Abdul Razak Elias said the victim, a Myanmar national in his 20s, was said to have been involved in an argument with two others, also from Myanmar, at about 4am. All three were believed to be drunk when the incident took place.
Abd Razak said police have classified the case as murder and carrying out investigations under Section 302 of the Panal Code while the victim's body was later sent to the Serdang Hospital for post-mortem. -- BERNAMA |
