Cycling: Azizul ready to cycle again Posted: 14 Jun 2011 05:13 PM PDT 2011/06/15 Azizul aims to make a victorious return. The 23-year-old reigning UCI World Cup keirin overall champion and World No 1, has recovered fully from injuries sustained in a horrific crash at the final round of the UCI World Cup in Manchester on Feb 19. The horror of the 20cm splinter that pierced his left calf as Azizul braved on to ride to a sensational bronze medal in Manchester, is now behind the Dungun-born as he focuses on regaining his best.
"Up until a week ago, there was still some pain in the area that was injured, but now it feels fine. I am ready to resume full training," said Azizul, the country's Sportsman of the Year in 2010. Azizul is currently working on regaining his endurance under national road team coach Graham Seers before returning to Melbourne under head coach John Beasley.
Keirin specialist Azizul said although he has confirmed his participation in the World University Games, the number of events he will contest in, has yet to be determined. "We've not decided on that yet. It will be up to John to decide, once he has evaluated my condition," said Azizul.

Polo / Asian-Australasian-African Championships: Malaysia ride hard to snatch victory Posted: 14 Jun 2011 05:10 PM PDT 2011/06/15 A Malaysia rider (left) tussles with a New Zealand player in Pekan yesterday. Royal Malaysian Polo Association president, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, who left the Royal Box to stand with Malaysian supporters on the field despite a drizzle, jumped for joy when the final whistle was blown. "This is a very sweet victory for Malaysia. We have never played any of these teams in such a tournament before. So this win means a lot," said Tengku Abdullah, who hugged the players and team officials after the win.
Yesterday's win was all the more sweeter for the Malaysians as the Asian-Australasian-Africa Championship also serves as the Zone D Qualifier for this year's FIP Polo World Cup Finals in San Luis, Argentina, on Oct 11-25. Huziani Yunos (Handicap 4) was the toast of Malaysia with five goals - scoring a goal each in the first three chukkas and ended it with a brace in the fourth.
New Zealand's Andrew Parrott also scored five goals for his team while Kit Brooks scored two and Gary Vickers one. In an earlier match, India, who had a 1/2 goal advantage, beat Australia 5 1/2-5 in another thriller with Samir Suhag scoring four goals. Vishal Chauhan scored the other.
