UDA Holdings acting managing director dies

UDA Holdings Bhd acting managing director Muhammad Radzi Mohd Basar, 53, died at a hotel in Kuantan about 6am today.

He was supposed to join the ground breaking ceremony for UDA Holdings resort in Pekan.

MACC denies being scared to probe cases in Kelantan

KOTA BAHARU -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has refuted allegations it lacks the courage to conduct investigations into alleged irregularities associated with the PAS-led Kelantan government.

Its Kelantan director, Nasaruddin Mohd Nor, said the MACC had carried out many investigations related to the state government and cited the probe into alleged irregularities and abuse of power by Kelantan Menteri Besar Incorporated CEO Abdul Ariffahmi Ab Rahman and alleged irregularities involving the Tok Guru Bazaar as two of them.

"We are doing our work as usual," he told reporters at the handing over of duties to his successor Nor Rasmi Shaari, who was MACC deputy director in Perak. Nasaruddin has been transferred to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya as director of the Excellence and Professionalism Division.

Nasaruddin said the investigation into the alleged irregularities and abuse of power by Abdul Ariffahmi, who is the son-in-law of Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, had been completed and the papers had been handed over to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

"In the matter of the Tok Guru Bazaar, we found no element of corruption," he added. -- Bernama
