Rajagobal facing strikeforce headache Posted: 02 Jul 2011 10:43 AM PDT National striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha is still recuperating from injury. National coach K. Rajagobal has enough on his plate to worry about with injuries to strikers Safee Sali and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha a bigger concern. With Ahmad Fakri Saarani and Abdul Hadi Yahya having just returned from injury themselves, Rajagobal said he has yet to make up his mind on which pair will be lining up today.
"Safee is out but I have not made a decision on who to play. I'll have to see the situation with the players and the tactics we will use before deciding on who should start. "My main concern is the strikeforce but we have played without Safee before and still won. So it is not just about one player," said Rajagobal before yesterday evening's official practice session at the Taipeh Municipal Stadium.
Rajagobal, however, does not think it will come to that. "In the first leg, we did not have penetration on the right flank and the right-back Helmi (Remeli) was nervous playing his first competitive international match.
"It will take one or two matches to get the tempo back. Had we converted our chances in the first leg, we would have already been through," said Rajagobal. Young Tigers A's Mahalli Jasuli looks likely to take the right-back spot while the right midfield position is a toss up between S. Chanturu, Ashaari Samsudin and Amirulhadi Zainal. Baddrol Bakhtiar and Abdul Hadi Yahya could start upfront while the rest of the side virtually picks itself from defenders Aidil Abdul Radzak, Fadhli Shas and Asraruddin Putra Omar, midfielders Amar Rohidan, Safiq Rahim and S. Kunanlan and goalkeeper Sharbinee Allawee Ramli. Full Feed Generated by Get Full RSS, sponsored by USA Best Price. |
Posted: 02 Jul 2011 08:29 AM PDT MUGELLO (Italy): Australian Casey Stoner will start on pole for today's Italian MotoGP after lowering the track record in qualifying at the Mugello circuit yesterday. The Honda rider posted a time of 1min 48.034sec to bag his fifth pole of 2011. The 2007 world champion, winner of four of the seven races this season, is joined on the front row by last weekend's Dutch Grand Prix winner Ben Spies and Marco Simoncelli.
His time bettered the previous lap record of 1:48.080 set three hours earlier in practice by Spanish defending champion Jorge Lorenzo. "We made one change on the bike from this morning and it worked out really well," said Stoner. Italian motorcycling legend Valentino Rossi was one rider affected by the wet conditions as he nursed his Ducati into 12th place, almost two seconds slower than Stoner who leads the overall standings on 136 points.
Spain's Marc Marquez, on a Suter, took pole for the Moto2 race with Derbi's French rider Johann Zarco out in front in the 125cc category. -- AFP |
