Man seriously injured in a shoot out at Setapak Posted: 30 Aug 2011 09:44 PM PDT 2011/08/31 KUALA LUMPUR: A man was seriously injured in a shoot out in front of a pub in Taman Seri Rampai, Setapak, early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred after the victim and three of his friends left the pub shortly after 6am. They had just entered in the vehicle when a man approached it and began breaking the back window located on the driver's side with a metal rod.
At this juncture, the assailant pulled out a gun and began shooting at the four. The suspect then chased the victims around for about 100 metres near the pub.
The victim, believed to be a student in his 20s, was rushed to Ampang Hospital for treatment.
Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Zakaria Pagan said police recovered five bullet shells at the scene. He added police are still investigating the motive of the attack and whether the victim and the suspect knew each other. "We have not made any arrests yet," Zakaria said. He said police did not find the weapon, adding that the suspect could have been drunk. "We also have another one of the victims with us and are in the midst of questioning him," he added. The case has been classified under possessing weapons during a fight. |
UPSI pro-cancellor Dr Abdul Shukor dies Posted: 30 Aug 2011 09:40 PM PDT TAIPING - Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) pro-chancellor Tan Sri Dr Abdul Shukor Abdullah died here at 1.20 am today. He was 67. His remains were taken to Putrajaya for burial there after the Asar (evening) prayers. The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, and the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah, paid their last respects earlier.
