PAS leaders to meet Agong over illegal rally Posted: 03 Jul 2011 11:25 PM PDT PAS leaders to meet Agong over illegal rallyKUALA TERENGGANU: Several top PAS leaders hopes to have audience with Yang di Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin over the July 9 illegal rally. PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu said president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, assistant secretary-general Dr Syed Azman Syed Ahmad Nawawi, himself and several others plan to meet him soon. He said PAS has sent a letter to Tuanku Mizan asking for an audience and is expected to receive a reply today or tomorrow.
"He is a true constitutional monarch for being a middleman to resolve the present crisis," he said at a PAS function in Ledang last night. Posted: 03 Jul 2011 09:58 PM PDT We can't follow practices of other countries, says Tuanku Mizan KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di- Pertuan Agong yesterday urged certain segments of the people not to be overzealous in their attempts to "enrich democracy" in the country lest this "brings about destruction".
The prime minister said this was to prevent people with hidden agendas from exploiting the gathering.
He said the opposition had no right to demand for democracy as they did not practise it themselves.
In Klang, police detained Kapar member of parliaments.
Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Zainuddin Yaakob said the men were detained under the Societies, Printing Presses and Publications and Sedition acts In Jasin , 17 Pas members were arrested at the party's premises in Dataran Hamas at 1.15pm yesterday for promoting the Bersih 2.0 rally.
