Three-time All-Star Gilbert Arenas wrote on Instagram Tuesday that he accepts the apology of maligned Clippers owner Donald Sterling following his lifetime ban from the NBA. Sterling denied that he is a racist in his first extended television interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper Monday night, and also called his racially insensitive comments "stupid" and "uneducated." Gilbert Arenas, for one, is willing to give Sterling a second chance.

"I'll be the first to accept ur apology. as a man who's made a mistake or two in life I know how hard it is to look at your self in the mirror when you let so many ppl down but for anybody who can't and won't accept his apology u need to look in the mirror because were not perfect. forgiveness will destroy racism not more hatred"

Arenas was convicted on felony gun charges stemming from a locker room incident with former teammate Javaris Crittenton in 2009. Arenas spent 30 days in a halfway house and was suspended 50 games without pay by then-commissioner David Stern. Arenas explained years later that the argument occurred after Crittenton had lost a card game to JaVale McGee. It was one of many controversial moments during Arenas' years in Washington — but three years after the incident, Arenas was out of the league entirely.
